Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she earned the Emmy Award. She is also known for her role on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was born as the only girl of her homemaker mother and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with 4 brothers. She dreamed of being a reporter for the court in the early years of her life, however she began modelling at high school, eventually earning commercials after moving from New York. Her first acting job was as a teen innocent in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film and dramatics since then. While she has a impressive professional career, Delaney's personal one is not as happy and prosperous. The accomplished actor has struggled with alcoholism as well as two failed marriages.
