Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. The EP was where she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. The following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had hired to Dreamville Records. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks featuring EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video then released in September. In November, she dropped two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by a music video in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
